These
are graphic Led Displays with LEDs that cover the entire surface of the
screen. This configuration makes it possible to display characters
(letters and figures) of varying heights and widths. The number of lines
depends on the height of the characters with this option, and is therefore
highly flexible. Drawings and logos can be displayed in standard Windows
bmp format (created using Microsoft Paint(brush) or Paint Shop Pro).
Animations can be created by displaying a sequence of bmp files. The
matrix extends across the entire display. The biggest display that
Daylight has installed in Belgium has a matrix of 384 by 192 LEDs or
pixels. Another advantage of these Led Displays is that moving texts can
be displayed on them.

These
are character Led Displays in which only the characters are displayed
using LEDs. This means that the spaces between the characters and lines do
not contain any LEDs. The matrix is always 5 x 7 pixels in this
configuration. Thus, the number of lines and characters per line is always
determined by the design of the Led Display, and cannot be adapted using
the software. These Led Displays have character heights of
3.5 – 5.3 and 8.1 cm. For displaying a large quantity of
text/figures with a fixed character height, Character Matrix displays are
more suitable than Full Matrix displays. The information can be displayed
on these Led Displays using ten different animations. However, these Led
Displays cannot display moving texts, as the matrix is not continuous.
